In particular, LIC Relief is getting food supplies to those who need it — by replenishing local food pantries and partnering with local restaurants to provide a weekday “grab and go” food service for students, healthcare workers, and families impacted by school closures. In short, LIC Relief is the kind of amazing organization that keeps communities together in tough times.

Thanks for helping Paint the Town
In April, Skyline Tower invited you to #PaintTheTownFromHome by getting out your brushes, pens, crayons...or, indeed, the image editing program on your computer! The aim? To color in one of three elegant images of the Skyline Tower. One shows the Manhattan skyline reflected in the glasses of a Skyline Tower resident. Another depicts a chic couple gazing at the Statue of Liberty from the floor-to-ceiling windows of their Skyline condo. The third focuses on the elegant condominium tower — the tallest in Long Island City — rising 67 majestic stories.

For every image submitted in April by budding artists, Skyline Tower made a donation to the LIC Relief COVID-19 Response Group. There were many vibrant entries, and, as a result of “Painting the Town,” 390 meals were bought and distributed to LIC locals.

The good work continues

A real plus is that everyone on the staff seems to genuinely love their jobs, which fills the place with a vibrant, positive energy. Go for the food; stay for the warm, friendly atmosphere.

No5nyc | 35-43 37th Street, Long Island City
In the early days of No5nyc, the kitchen was a food truck. But as the acclaim built, this unique eatery was able to ditch the wheels. Everything served at No5 is organic. And though they’re billed as a vegan restaurant — and they do have an amazing and massive vegan menu that features 10 different meatless burgers — they also offer an array of grass-fed, cage-free, and nonvegan fare, as well as stellar cocktails, fresh smoothies, and juices. Their wonderful garden area seats up to 100 people, and the interior is rustic and colorful. The truffle mac & cheese and the seitan burgers are well-known favorites at No5, and all of their desserts are winners.
